San Antonio Wedding of Sylvia and Matthew Arismendez

We ended 2011 in the best way possible: Making a memorable wedding for Sylvia and Matthew.

Hosted at the St. Paul’s Community Center, over 200 close friends and family enjoyed a night of celebration and love.

Two days later, we started 2012 the same way:  delivering entertainment for our long-term client Jason’s Deli employees’ appreciation party.

On the first JSP meeting of the year, we went through figures and realized that more than numbers, our big satisfaction was providing unforgettable events for our clients; and now friends.

So it’s time to say “Thank You”. We’ve been here 12 years thanks to people like you who have trusted us to do what we do best: Provide World Class Entertainment.

Hire A Professional Wedding DJ

Say that again? Your relative is gonna be your DJ”… NOOOOOOoooooooooo

Ok I’m exaggerating a little bit. It’s not that bad if your relative is a professional DJ, that’s his wedding present and he’s bringing the sound, lights and of course the music. But let’s be honest, this isn’t true in most cases.

When brides or grooms call me to rent equipment because his/her brother, cousin or uncle is going to be their DJ, I know that’s a bad sign.

I mean think about it…

…they want to be the wedding DJ, but don’t have equipment? Not promising. They usually don’t have experience either as an MC (Master of Ceremonies). So don’t expect proper wedding etiquette, announcements or attire to matching your nice venue.

Besides, shouldn’t they be enjoying the party as much as your other guests?

I want to share a couple of recent cases that make my point.

Brenda* was clear with her uncle, coming from California, that she’d rather have him as a guest than her DJ.  She wanted to hire a professional DJ for the day. Her uncle was very insistent and she eventually agreed. We delivered the rented equipment and he only brought his music.

When we arrived the day of, her uncle’s lack of experience was bright as day. He realized there were other things missing from what he was going to need.

Fortunately, I was prepared and provided them on the spot. However this was an unexpected extra expense for Brenda and her husband.

A couple of days later when I called her to check how everything went, she said: “It was ok at first, but my uncle DJ’d mostly for himself; playing a lot of Tejano music and when we asked for a variety – he played “pop that p*$#y”!!

Of course, the bride and her mom were furious, but it was too late.

The other case, was a bride’s brother. He was a very nice kid. Yeah, 19. He looked so out of place.

The couple had spent $1,500 on a small ballroom in a golf club. The decoration was tasteful, the buffet was lavish and everything in general looked classy. Everything, except for the boy in the corner, “DJ- wannabe” — wearing tennis shoes, leggings and a checkered long sleeve shirt. And to add insult to injury, he smelt like he hadn’t showered in two days; since he stepped off the plane.

He was guessing for appropriate music for all ages and guests present.

Seriously, think about this: It’s your first party as husband and wife. This is one of those times you need an experienced professional. You want everything to be amazingly successful and fun.

So to brides and grooms to be, if your relative offers themselves to DJ your wedding reception, unless their a professional, politely say “No, thank you. I’d rather you enjoy the party”. And you’ll be doing yourself and your guests a big favor.
